I have found some info online stating that a self directed IRA can invest in real property with some pretty strict stipulations.
I now need a reputable source for more info.
A book or website would be helpful. THANKS !
And if I get ready to make something happen – will I be better served by an Attorney or a CPA to make transactions in an IRA ?
Marcia
I would ignore all the websites that discuss this unless you are reading the IRS website.
Over the last few years I have come across many sites that discuss this and how how to do this for $5000-10,000+ using complex structures. In my view of understanding of retirement structures, many of these companies would not hold up to IRS scrutiny. I have seen many compliance violations where these structures would default to non-qualified assets.
I am not a tax or legal expert, but have consulted with them in this area in my business dealings and you’ve got a very difficult road to master here.
I would go straight to a tax (CPA) attorney for my questions.
