Thinking of investing in property tax liens but I am worried about what happens when they do not pay the delinquent taxes. Would I get the house free and clear or have to fight for the right of ownership in long court battles. Or would I simply have a lien on the property?

I recently graduated with a BSB in accounting. I want to increase my passive income by becoming an entrepreneur. I currently work back office for an investment/banking firm. I don’t want to be stuck paying taxes before I pay myself forever and I believe that working with investment property is the best way for me to do it. I just want to know how to get started and how to gain the knowledge and capital necessary for such an undertaking.

What resources should I be researching so I know what I’m doing before I jump into it? Books, websites, ect..

Any additional information would be appreciated
Iowa, Illinois border, and as far as how much capital, that’s up in the air. Depending on how much it’ll cost to get started will probably be how long I get to study and research before I begin : )

Can anybody tell me if this would help my credit some or hurt me in the long run? Would it affect other purchases like buying a new car or anything else?

I’ve been leaning toward Costa Rica lately — but a buddy of mine says the turnaround on houses there isn’t as high as you’d think, so now I don’t know. Where would you suggest? And would you purchase just property or perhaps a little house/condo instead? (I don’t have that much money to spare so it’d have to be a REAL little house.)

For example, if there were a 100-150 thousand dollar property for sale, would I be able to buy it, if I can only get a $15,000 loan. I mean, is it possible to make a deposit on the property and would it have to be a property that generates income from rent? The situation is that I earn only $39k a year but I want to invest in land/property. Can you advise me? Thanks!

How can I buy a cheap piece of land to get started in investing? I would like to start investing in property. I don’t have alot of money. What are the name of some taxsales, foreclosure sales, landsales or what is the name of the place in Illinois that I can go to to see properties that have tax liens on them? Is it the Cook County Treasurers Office? Can anyone or even some investors teach me the ropes or give me info on how to get started? Thank-you in advance for you guys help.

I am considering investing to my property before I sell it but need to come up with a budget and projections of what my property will be worth when Im done. I have a good idea in figuring this out but I need to know what the banks look at to see how realistic this may be.
Well, thanks but I was hopping for a little more. Like total income multiplied by 8.5 (NY’s tax assesment formula). Something like that.

I would like to buy a house as an investment and may have a good deal in Antioch CA. Is it a good area to invest in? Did they have any flood problems or any other problems that may reflect on the value of the homes there?
Thank you.
